We put Fly to sleep in June, 2002. Old age had finally taken its toll, and it was time. I was doubly sad because I realized then that I had only one of her daughters remaining in my breeding program, and Susan Jones is no spring chicken anymore.
I had placed Dip with friends when she was just an 8 week old puppy and she was living happily in Eastern Canada. However, tragedy struck that family last fall when Wendy Lawrence (Braveheart Kennels) died suddenly, leaving her husband Darryl and two young boys with a house full of terriers. I offered to help Darryl find homes for some of the dogs, and that is how Dip made her way back to me. She is a delight, and I am so happy to have her back. Like her mother, she never gets into trouble and always avoids a fight if she can. (Not always easy living with a pack of Jack Russells) She follows at my heels all day long, content to just be where I am. From Fly, she inherited a small, flexible chest, a good topline, decent angulation and a lovely length of neck. From her father, Foxnorton Trek, she received good bone and an excellent coat. Dip has matured into an attractive individual and we look forward to having another Fly daughter back in our breeding program. I believe that good blood will come through and with Dip we can carry this wonderful, sound old gene pool on for years to come. |
